Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Bronwyn Bishop stated that state governors are using the public’s fear of COVID-19 to justify the lockdown as the main method of containing the epidemic.
Ms. Bishop urged governments to frankly say that Australians should understand the truth about the impact of the coronavirus.
“The problem is that we no longer receive independent medical advice. We have now seen medical voices integrated into political voices, and now everything is related to politics,” she told Sky News host Gary Hardgrave.
“Fear has always been the main tool used by governors to lock down states.
“We need to know the facts, we need to be told the true state of this disease… The damage is that it has now become a political issue, not a medical issue.”
