The “flexible” 2021 WBBL schedule was played in six states, with 47 games being broadcast live, setting a record high.

Due to Covid-19, last year’s game was limited to Sydney Central, and WBBL players will travel across six states this season.

The 2021 WBBL season will begin on October 14, when the Sydney 76ers and Melbourne Stars will clashed at the North Sydney Oval.

The 59 games will be played in the prime time finals after the first day of the Australia-Afghanistan test match on November 27.

The Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast will host the WBBL game for the first time this season. Other venues include CitiPower Center, Great Barrier Reef Arena (Mackay), WACA Ground, Lilac Hill, Karen Rolton Oval, Centennial Park Oval (Nuriootpa), Brendstone Arena and University of Tasmania Stadium.

All matches will be broadcast live on Kayo, and a record 47 matches will also be broadcast live on Foxtel, of which 24 will also be broadcast on the Seven Nets.

“The commitment to broadcast 47 games this season is a testament to the incredible growth and depth of our games. This firmly cements our position as Australia’s highest-rated women’s sports league on a per-game basis,” Australian Cricket Said Alistair Dobson, general manager of the Big Bash League.

“We are also very happy to bring the game back to our passionate and loyal fans across the country, provided it is safe to do so.

“We want to give as many fans as possible the opportunity to watch their team’s live broadcast, as well as the millions of people watching it on TV in Australia and around the world.”

Dobson said that if changes are required due to Covid-19, the timetable is also “flexible.”

“Like all sports leagues, we are still aware of the need to be flexible in responding to the challenges of the pandemic,” he said.

“If we need to adjust, this timetable provides us with many options, and if we need to do so, the lessons (last year) will put us in a good position.”

Fox Sports Executive Director Steve Crowley said: “This year, Fox Cricket’s WBBL coverage will increase by 30%, and Australia’s only dedicated women’s cricket show The Blast will return.

“Fox Cricket is a gathering place for cricket enthusiasts. With Australian cricket, we will continue to push WBBL to the level it deserves-this is Australia’s largest women’s sporting event and undoubtedly one of the greatest events in the world.”
