Several floods in Henan Province damaged the residents of Chinese villages, who were evacuated through emergency ship bridges built overnight.
Floods inundated large areas of central China, causing at least 33 people to die in historic floods. Villagers were evacuated through temporary bridges on Friday, and the typhoon may cause more suffering as it heads to the east coast of the country.
Millions of people in Henan Province were affected by the floods. People were trapped for days without fresh food or water. When they broke through the embankment, the road was shattered and the entire area was stuck with thick mud.
Overnight heavy rains, floods flooding northward to Xinxiang and surrounding areas, large tracts of farmland were submerged, and the Weihe River burst its banks, which hindered efforts to plug the gap with trucks.
“At present, nearly 9,000 people have been safely transferred,” CCTV said, adding that the authorities are evacuating “the remaining 19,000 people.”
The tragic footage of passengers trapped in the subway at rush hour, with water rising from ankles to neck height, pinballs on China’s Twitter-like Weibo, because someone asked why the underground network was allowed to operate in an unprecedented storm problem.
Meteorologists are now anxiously watching the progress of typhoon “Renfa”, which has already brought heavy rainfall to Taiwan and the east coast of China, and is expected to land on this area with a population of tens of millions from Sunday.

As the flood retreated from southern Henan, a baby was dug out from the collapsed house, and her mother died in the rubble, so an extraordinary story of survival and tragedy appeared.
“We were unable to evacuate in time because my elderly disabled grandma could not leave the house,” a 16-year-old student surnamed Zhang told AFP, saying that their house was completely flooded. “I am afraid that I will drown.”
