Victoria’s Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton (Brett Sutton) criticized the state’s contact tracing work because the area is extremely contagious.
After the Covid-19 case peaked this week, Victoria fell into a 7-day “circuit breaker” lock-up.

Professor Sutton said their efforts were “extraordinary.”
He said: “Contact tracking is an integral part of how to gain control-it does not produce magic.”
“Every country in the world has one or two cases in its own country, and there are contact tracers that may work in this range, but this is not the case. Most countries have huge epidemics.”
The man tested negative in the hotel quarantine area, and then the SA authorities approved him to go to Victoria.
But now it is believed that he captured Covid through aerosol transmission in the last few days of quarantine and brought the virus to his hometown of Wallert.
Professor Sutton said: “When a person arrives at the hotel quarantine area and they are (but) not infectious in the community, there is no response.”
“If you have an incredible contagion and are everywhere around you, it will be a huge opportunity to spread to many other people.”
Victorian authorities said on Thursday that they are dealing with “highly contagious” strains and more than 10,000 people may be infected.
Acting Prime Minister James Merlino said that the new strain is running faster than the state has recorded, which is why lock-in is needed to assist the contact person in tracking the team.
He said he did not lose faith in contact tracers in the state.
He said: “Our contact tracker will identify and lock the first, second and third rounds of cases within 24 hours.”
“They have never worked so hard, fast, and effectively as they do now.”
