Sky News confirmed that before major military exercises with the United States, the second Chinese spy ship was approaching the Australian coast.

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army’s general intelligence ship “Neptune” is approaching the east coast of Australia through the Solomon Sea.

Secretary of Defense Peter Dutton stated that the ADF had been monitoring the approach of the ship as part of a broader surveillance effort before the exercise of the Talisman Sabre.

Mr. Dutton said that the ship, like its sister ship, has been acting legally during the transit and is expected to continue to do so.

“The Ministry of Defense will continue to monitor the presence of these ships,” he told Sky News.

It is understood that ADF has planned to obtain international benefits in military exercises and has taken measures to protect the information security of participating troops.

Joint exercises with the US military have always attracted Chinese interest, but this marked the first time Beijing has deployed two intelligence ships.
