Queensland Lieutenant Governor Steven Myers said that the state has recorded 9 new local cases of COVID, which is the highest number in the state since August last year.
“This brings the number of genome-related cases in the cluster to 18. Of course they are all Delta strains,” he said.
“This is the largest number of new community cases and new community infections reported in Queensland in the past 12 months. The last time we reached this level was on August 22.”
Mr. Myers also said that the state welcomes the federal government’s declaration of 11 LGAs as national hot spots.
“This means that Queenslanders in these 11 LGAs will be eligible to apply for financial support,” he said.
“Queenslanders who are unemployed for more than 20 hours a week will be eligible for a subsidy of US$750 per week, while those who are unemployed for less than 20 hours will be eligible for a subsidy of US$450.
“We were told that the application form will be available before August 7.”
