A mother in Perth was vaccinated against Pfizer’s COVID while she was exclusively breastfeeding her daughter.

“I decided to breastfeed my youngest child exclusively”
But the people in Natalie’s life are not so excited…Many people instead encourage her to wait for the jab.
Their problem is that Natalie is currently breastfeeding her nearly one-year-old daughter Sienna.
“I decided to breastfeed Sienna exclusively because she was my last… My supply of the other two was so low, so I decided that I would not give up this time,” Sienna explained.
“It’s really hard-I have been taking breastfeeding drugs to increase my supply, and then drink water like crazy.
“I had mastitis three times, but I didn’t give up.”

Australian government recommends Pfizer vaccine to breastfeeding women
Considering how hard Sienna has put in to breastfeed her daughter exclusively, she believes that it is unreasonable to stop breastfeeding just to get the Pfizer vaccine.

Studies have shown that the vaccine is “safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women-and AstraZeneca vaccine has not been studied similarly.
The document reads: “There is limited research on the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine in breastfeeding women, but theoretically there are no safety issues.”
“Several small studies have shown that breastfeeding women experience similar side effects after receiving the mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer) compared to the general population.
“The vaccine breaks down quickly in the body, and we don’t think it will pass into breast milk.
“However, several small studies have shown that antibodies induced by the COVID-19 vaccine pass into breast milk. This may provide your baby with some protection against COVID-19, but there is currently no research confirming this protection.”

“Someone told me that I was stupid to get vaccinated while breastfeeding… but it was my choice.”
This is exactly how Natalie felt when she was vaccinated during breastfeeding.
“There has been enough research to show that I am not worried about breastfeeding,” Natalie admitted.
“If any vaccine is passed to Sienna through breast milk, it is an extra immunity for her.
“I don’t care about anti-vaccine stuff at all… Education is the key. Most anti-vaccine information is false and intimidating tactics.”
So last week, Natalie went to the COVID community vaccination clinic in Joondalup, a suburb of Perth, for vaccination-she described the process as “simple”.
“My only side effect was very slight soreness in my arm the next day… but I did sleep on it,” she added.
“Yes, I was told that I was stupid to do this while breastfeeding, and I should question it more, but I believe in research… Honestly, it was my choice in the end.”
