New South Wales Governor Gladys Berejiklian said that returning children to school is one of the government’s priorities, but it will depend on the number of cases and the level of vaccination in the community.
“In terms of school return, it depends on the number of cases and vaccination rates and the role of the virus,” she said.
“I know this is no comfort for the eight local government areas, but in general, we have managed to exclude the virus from these areas, so all children there can communicate face-to-face.
“Getting children to learn face-to-face again and getting parents or adults to return to the workplace are still our two priorities.
“We realize that parents especially need to be able to plan ahead.
“Whenever we have any clear health advice, we will provide it.”
