Liverpool, New South Wales: Man charged for allegedly pouring gasoline on his wife and setting fire

A husband was charged with suspicion of pouring gasoline on his wife’s clothes and lighting her with a cigarette.

A man was charged with suspicion of pouring gasoline on his wife and setting her on fire.

New South Wales Police said that around 6pm on Saturday, emergency services received a call from a family on Elizabeth Drive in Liverpool and found a 30-year-old woman had burns to her left leg and left hand.

She was treated by paramedics and then sent to Liverpool Hospital for further treatment before being discharged.

A 36-year-old man was arrested at his home and taken to Liverpool Police Station.

He was later accused of assault causing actual bodily harm.

In a statement on Sunday, the police said: “Police will in court accuse the man of spilling gasoline on his wife’s clothes before lighting a cigarette and lighting her clothes.”

The man has been refused bail and will face the Parramatta bail court later on Sunday.
