Dramatic body camera footage shows that in the early morning of Monday, July 19, a police officer in Jamestown, New York rushed into a house fire to rescue a family trapped inside. According to Chief of Police Tim Jackson, Officer Mark Conklin was alerted that a house fire on William Street might have occurred and he found an adult and child trapped in a house engulfed by flames. This video released by the Jamestown Police Department shows Officer Conklin’s quick and calm response to the scene. Conklin can be heard instructing the family to jump from the upper window and say, “Jump. I caught you,” before he continued to catch them. “I can say that over the years, I have seen many examples of officer heroism,” Chief Jackson wrote in the caption. “After watching the video of this incident and talking with other relevant personnel, I can say that Officer Conklin’s behavior, to say the least, is one of the most outstanding examples of bravery, heroism and exemplary service I have ever seen. “Credit: Jamestown Police Department via Storyful
