Competition in the regional airline market “is good for everyone”

Media Stable managing director Nic Hayes said that due to Australia’s travel restrictions and the surge in interest in the local tourism industry, competition in the regional airline market “is good for everyone.”

According to the Cairns Post, local airline Skytrans has joined the market to compete with rival regional airlines QantasLink and Regional Express-a move that will reduce the cost of regional air tickets.

“Competition is good for everyone…especially when we are restricted from traveling,” Mr. Hayes told Sky News host Peter Gleason.

“Now, thousands of Australians do not plan to go to Europe, the United States, or even Bali-they want to travel in their own region.

“All of this is by plane, and the local routes are benefiting from it.

“I think it’s a good thing when there are games, if they can take advantage of the fact that they are getting more and more interested and a lot of people are buying tickets-it’s good for everyone.”
