What a wonderful victory. For Batley and Spen, this is a truly important victory, hope to overcome division and decent to overcome hatred. I just want to first express my heartfelt thanks to all of you for everything you have done.
You are a great, great, great candidate, a great campaign team, and a great team. Thank you for every minute, every hour, every day, every week, the blood you shed, you Every door I knocked on because that’s what caused this situation. It’s great, thank you.
It takes incredible courage to stand here and experience this campaign, incredible courage. Kim represents everything I want our Labor Party to be.
She belongs to her community-everyone knows Kim, no matter how they vote, they know Kim because of what she puts in. She belongs to her community, she serves her community, she has integrity, she believes in truth and honesty, and unites people together. As I said, this is exactly the Labour Party I want; the values of our Labour Party. She will be an excellent councillor for Bartley and Spoon; a very good member.
Joe Cox and I were elected to parliament on the same day; we entered parliament together. There is no day we will never miss Joe. But, Kim, she would be proud to see you today, proud to see you as a member of Congress.
