After winning an international tournament for the fourth time in just 7 days, the next golden generation of Australian golf continues to shine.

Min Woo Lee became the 11th Australian to participate in this week’s British Open. Prior to this, he had an amazing Sunday charge in wet conditions in Scotland, and he eventually won the trophy as the champion of the Scottish Open.

It continued the golden seven days of Australian golf, followed by countryman Lucas Herbert, who was one shot behind Lee in Scotland and won the Irish Open last weekend.

The Scottish Open also provided Australian veteran Wade Ormsby with something memorable — 204 bottles of Scotch whiskey — a reward for his hole-in-one on the 12th hole.

The 22-year-old Lee was three shots behind the leader at the beginning of the final round. He caught six birdies in a row of 64 in the final round, then waited 90 minutes by the fireplace before stepping out and being the first in the playoffs. The hole disposes of Matt Fitzpatrick and Thomas Detrie and declares victory.

“It feels amazing. It’s a long day. Some people say that it was 6 hours and 20 minutes. It really feels like that,” Li said after winning, which ensured his Grand Slam debut this week.

“I have my friends cheering for me, it’s amazing. It’s amazing. It happened so fast. I could have caught birdies on a few of the back nine holes, but for six consecutive holes, you Can’t do that much, especially in such a big event, it’s great.”

Both Lee and Herbert, who won more than $1.7 million, went to the Royal St. George’s Stadium with confidence, where Greg Norman won the British Open in 1993.

“There is not much time for the party. I don’t think there is too much time to celebrate, but it is very…full of confidence for myself, just like what I did this week,” Li said.

“I play as an amateur at the Royal St. George’s Stadium. I don’t know much about it, but if I see it, I think I will know myself. But it feels great and I am ready for next week.

“Just play like I did this week. It’s tough. But I think I can do it again. I mean, the feeling of waving it is really good.”

Herbert played the final round against the world number one Jon Lahm in Scotland and defeated the U.S. Open champion while heading to the Royal St. George’s Stadium.

“Obviously, the state is good, so I think I have a lot of confidence. I will be able to go through all this and think and reorganize next week,” he said.

“It’s hard to be really satisfied with this, but it’s still a very good week.”
