A few days before the opening ceremony, a member of the Australian Olympic team was fired after temporarily testing positive.
The Australian Olympic team was shocked by the temporary suspension of a star after returning a positive result for cocaine in his system.
Equestrian rookie Jamie Kermond, who appeared on Wednesday morning, returned a positive A sample of cocaine metabolites.
According to reports, when they flew to Tokyo on Tuesday night, he did not travel with the other members of the team.
The test was conducted in late June.
A statement issued by the Australian Equestrian Association confirmed this news.
“According to the Australian National Anti-Doping Policy 2021, the Australian Equestrian Association has suspended jumping athlete Jamie Kermond,” the governing body claimed.
“The mandatory temporary suspension notice claims that after a test conducted by the Australian Sports Integrity Association on June 26, 2021, Mr. Kermond returned a positive A sample of cocaine metabolites.
“The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the Australian National Anti-Doping Policy of 2021 prohibit the use of cocaine in competitions. Mr. Kermond is prohibited from participating in any WADA event, including the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and temporarily It’s in place during the suspension.”
