The Sandbox announced Thursday a partnership with Warner Music Group (WMG) to create a musical theme park and concert venue within the game’s virtual world. The Sandbox’s Warner Music Group LAND will host concerts and live experiences by artists and talent represented by WMG.
The move marks Warner Music’s first foray into the non-fungible token (NFT) virtual world. According to a statement shared with Cointelegraph, the goal is to create an immersive social experience that empowers Warner Music artists. Sandboxes can provide another channel for artists to interact with fans, experiment with virtual entertainment, and create new revenue streams while reaching out to a global community.
Sebastien Borget, COO and co-founder of The Sandbox, said the partnership “brings the open metaverse one step closer to a fan-owned and community-driven initiative.”
“We’re making The Sandbox a fun entertainment destination where creators, fans and players can enjoy an unprecedented immersive experience and connect more closely with their favorite music artists through NFTs,” he added road.
Digital land remains in high demand, and The Sandbox’s consistently high transaction volume is considered one of the most competitive metaverses competing with Decentraland. According to the company, The Sandbox will hold a LAND sale in March 2022 to allow music lovers to purchase land near the WMG property.
