2.5 billion USD crypto trading fund

Investment company Paradigm announced the launch of a $2.5 billion venture fund to speculate in next-generation crypto companies and protocols. Matt Huang and Fred Ehrsam, who co-founded Paradigm in 2018, explained:

“In the past 3 years, our belief in these convictions has been very firm, and we are pleased to announce the replacement of the $2.5 billion venture fund to continue investing in the next generation of crypto companies and protocols.”

They pointed out: “This new fund can invest in our existing flagship fund, covering all stages and geographies.”

Ehrsam also co-founded Coinbase, a cryptocurrency exchange listed on the Nasdaq. Huang was previously a partner of Redwood Capital, specializing in early-stage venture capital and leading the company’s cryptocurrency work.

The two co-founders raised $2.5 billion this month for their initial capital fund, Paradigm One. According to the “Financial Times” report, the funds raised are twice the initial target amount. However, Ehrsam told the publication, “It may be insignificant relative to wherever we move in 10 years.”

The publication pointed out that this is the most important new capital fund in the history of the crypto field. Earlier this year, the venture capital firm Andreessen pianist raised $2.2 billion for its new cryptocurrency fund, which was the “largest crypto fund ever” at the time.

Paradigm’s initial fund is a hedge fund structure that raised $400 million in associate degrees in 2018. In the first half of this year, its internal annual growth rate exceeded 200%, which was consistent with the data seen by the Currency Times. The fund’s assets have reached 10 billion U.S. dollars.

Ehrsam and Huang go in more detail:

This new fund and its size reflect that encryption technology is the most exciting technological frontier. Over the past ten years, cryptocurrencies have returned in an expanded manner.

However, they emphasized, “The journey has just begun, and the potential of encryption has never been so clear.”
