As the gaming giant Zynga announced that it would soon integrate NFT and blockchain into the publisher’s product portfolio, the non-fungible token (NFT) won again.
San Francisco-based game developer Zynga is known for its FarmVille and CSR Racing series, and appointed marketing veteran Matt Wolf as its vice president to oversee the company’s blockchain game work.
With the addition of Wolf, Zynga will work to integrate NFT and blockchain into its existing product portfolio and develop new games based on NFT. Zynga Chief Product Officer Scott Koenigsberg pointed out that the company has become an early adopter of emerging platforms and technologies, releasing new versions on Snap Games, Google Nest and Amazon Alexa.
When talking about the importance of blockchain technology in the digital economy, Koenigsberg said that Wolf will help them enter new addressable markets through NFT and explore new ownership possibilities for gamers.
Matt Wolf said that NFT and blockchain technology are the natural next step in Zynga’s development. He praised the system based on Web3 tokens for achieving innovation in games and providing new forms of player value. He added: “By creating an integrated experience that allows players to become owners in their gaming journey, our goal is to expand Zynga’s audience and drive stronger engagement and retention rates.”
The gaming industry welcomes NFTs with open arms because they open up new business models and sources of revenue for developers, publishers and even content creators. EA boss Andrew Wilson claimed that collectible digital content will play an important role in the company’s future.
