Bluzelle launches mainnet decentralized storage for NFT content

Bluzelle, a decentralized storage network, announced the release of its mainnet R2 file storage system, which aims to enhance the decentralization of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and their corresponding data.

The solution was created amid growing concerns about the lack of immutability of the Interplanetary File System (IPFS) protocol, which is a relatively undiscussed storage model that is currently used by most NFT assets (including Cryptopunks and Beeple) The gold standard.

Twitter user Jonty Wareing shared a popular assessment of the basic flaws of the NFT project IPFS.

In their announcement, Bluzelle emphasized that prominent use cases of their service include NFT content around 3D digital art or video reels.

Bluzelle CEO Pavel Bains talked to Cointelegraph about the importance of NFT assets and data transitioning from IPFS storage to a truly decentralized system, as the industry has gradually become mainstream:

“IPFS is a decentralized network. But it does not guarantee decentralized storage. Your NFT is only in one node. That node can be shut down. If users don’t want this risk, they should use a system like Bluzelle , It can ensure that their assets are safe in multiple places at the same time.”

Bluzelle’s infrastructure has been deployed and successfully tested on Mintable, and is expected to be implemented in a range of other NFT markets in the coming months.

Implementing this decentralized model will assure buyers and holders that their NFT assets have been securely protected and will not be compromised when the platform is closed. This model is somewhat similar to hardware wallet storage of encrypted assets.

Bains also shared his expectations for the launch of the mainnet and provided his views on the potential impact of the implementation next year on the Bluzelle ecosystem:

“This is our first real use case. It’s a bit like Ethereum’s ICO. We can focus on one area and really serve those customers. I think NFT will expand and grow in new ways, so it will allow Bluzelle to develop new Function to support it.”
