After an infected person traveled extensively, Queensland issued a chilling warning that the virus “may be anywhere”.
After health official Janet Young admitted that the virus “may exist anywhere in southeastern Queensland”, Queensland began a three-day rapid lockdown because there was only one person.

She revealed that in one of the new cases, a medical student at the University of Queensland was the tutor of the 17-year-old who announced the case on Friday. His family is now also infected.
She said the medical student had been to “many places.”
“I suspect-although it is difficult to know due to the very fast transmission time frame-I suspect that the medical student is the index case and brought it into the family, and then it has spread within the family,” she said.
The exposure sites included the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital of the University of Queensland and the Translational Research Institute of Pennsylvania. The medical student also had a sibling who worked in the hospital.
“Then we had children, and the youngest child in the family attended Ironside School, and a teacher there had tested positive,” Dr. Yang added.
“As a result, we quarantined all these students and staff at Indooroopilly State High School for 14 days yesterday. We will do the same for all students and staff at Ironside School today.”
Queensland Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said that a family of five were infected in just five days.
“So, we know how dangerous Delta Air Lines is. We know that it spreads faster than any other variant we have dealt with in the past 18 months,” she said.
“The Dougherty Institute model was shown to the National Cabinet and the Minister of Health this week, and it now shows that if you want to manage this, if you want to stop the spread, you have to work hard, you have to be fast. We have a chance to control this. , We need everyone-everyone-to work with us to achieve this goal.”

She added that New South Wales has seen the devastating effects of the Delta variant.
“New South Wales had a case on June 16. After 38 days, they reached 3000 cases. From that person, 38 days, 3000 cases. Sadly, 13 people died in that cluster alone,” she Say.
“We must do this well. We know that Queenslanders will do the right thing. We have been here before. We know what we must do. We must be more vigilant and more compliant than ever before.”
Queensland Lieutenant Governor Steven Myers confirmed that all cases were infected with the Delta strain, which has been driving the outbreak in Sydney.
“We know from that experience that this Delta strain can spread very, very quickly. It is much more dangerous than the strains we have dealt with before,” he said.
“This means that these new cases mean that there are now 7 cases in the outbreak we notified yesterday. We have seen from the experience of other states that the only way to defeat the Delta strain is to act fast, fast and strong.”
Ms. D’Ath urged people to stay at home and get tested if they feel unwell, even if they have a mild cough or sore throat.
Starting at 4 pm on Saturday, Queensland’s lockdown applies to 11 LGAs of concern.
The LGA is as follows; Brisbane City, Moreton Bay Regional Council, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley Regional Council, Logan City, Noosa County Council, Redland City, Scenic Regional Council, Summer Sete Regional Council and Sunshine Coast Regional Council.
People can only leave home for four reasons—to buy necessities such as groceries and medicines—but only within 10 kilometers of home for basic work or childcare, medical care, and exercise.
