Resources Minister Keith Pitt said that Australia is discussing nuclear energy development with the United Kingdom and commented that “nuclear energy is equally important.”
Mr. Pete told Sky News host Chris Kenny: “Australia has a suspension period before we can get unchanging opposition support, but this does not mean that we should not pay attention to the development of this technology.”
“This does not mean that we should not seek to build more branches in our economy. Now that we have a lot of resources, we should make more.”
“We are a sparsely populated island and we do not have these opportunities, so we need to ensure that we have affordable and reliable baseload power in this country.
“The reality is that we are here on our own. We must ensure that everything we do is for the benefit of the Australian people and absolutely ensure that our manufacturers can be internationally competitive.”
