New South Wales Finance Minister Dominic Perrottet (Dominic Perrottet) said that during the extension of the lockdown in Sydney, the additional financial aid announced for NSW businesses and workers will “ensure” job retention.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced that the maximum personal support will be raised from $600 to $750, and the maximum support for people who are unemployed for less than 20 hours a week will be raised from $375 to $450.
“Obviously, I think yesterday’s package will ensure that these jobs are retained in terms of employment in our state,” Mr Perrottet told Sky News Australia.
“In the past 18 months, the JobKeeper program has been incredibly successful. We lost hundreds of thousands of jobs in our state, but they all recovered.
“And we want to make sure that during this lock-in period and the next six months, this situation will happen again as we are in an environment where the company is still subject to some restrictions in the situation that may arise — after the lock-in period.
“This is not a static situation. As the situation changes, we will change our policy settings accordingly.”
