Sydneysiders are now going through another month of lockdown. But the pain may last longer for two main reasons.
An expert shared more bad news for New South Wales, claiming that the brutal continued lockdown may be delayed beyond August 28.
Epidemiologist, University of South Australia Professor Adrian Esterman told ABC There are two key factors that will cause the current restrictions in Greater Sydney to be extended again, namely the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour.
The first reason is that the state’s ambitious vaccination target is 80% of the population, or 10 million doses, and the health system can easily fail to reach it on time.
The second is the number of people circulating in the community during the infection. Despite the restrictions of several weeks, this vital number has not dropped significantly.
