After multiple Covid-19 cases have been reported, residents of an apartment building in western Sydney will be detained for two weeks.
After many people tested positive for Covid-19, residents of an apartment building in Blacktown, western Sydney, were locked indoors.
The New South Wales Department of Health is aware of the development, and the New South Wales Police confirmed the news to NCA NewsWire on Monday morning.
“The New South Wales Police Force is providing support to the New South Wales Department of Health and they are responding to multiple Covid-19 cases in an apartment building in Blacktown.
“If help is needed, the New South Wales Police are required to be at the scene.”
Someone saw a police car parked outside the building overnight while residents were not allowed to leave.
The New South Wales Department of Health has been contacted for comments.
News reporter James Wilson on the 9th posted on social media that more than 100 residents were affected by the lockdown and everyone was tested overnight.
“Pathology is processing swabs on the spot,” he wrote. “The police will guard this building in the next two weeks.”
On Sunday, Blacktown was listed as one of five problematic LGAs by the New South Wales Department of Health.
All workers are prohibited from leaving Blacktown LGA unless they are essential workers.
