The league imposed a $35,000 fine and two game bans on the forward. The penalty is the same as the previous penalty. Maroons forward Jai Arrow was also punished for suspected similar violations.
A statement from the NRL read: “In issuing the proposed penalties, the NRL has considered that the alleged violations occurred before the most recent violations, including before a group of St George Illawarra Dragons players violated the New South Wales Public Health Order and Queensland The state player Jai Arrow violated the in-game biosafety protocol.”
“It is alleged that Koroisau attended a hotel room of an individual who was not part of the team’s biosecurity foam on June 27.
“NRL is providing continuous welfare support to Koroisau’s family.”
The head of NRL, Andrew Abdo, highlighted the measures the league has taken to ensure that players and clubs comply with existing agreements.
“According to the quarantine order, all club hotels are currently isolated from the public and are patrolled by security guards 24 hours a day,” Abdu said.
“We are taking all precautions to ensure that the agreement will not be violated and to ensure the safety of the Queensland community.
“Since this violation, the environment has changed rapidly, and players understand the consequences of not complying with the agreement.”
Koroisau’s actions caused the Chief Health Officer of Queensland Janet Young issued a severe warning to league players and their families.
“I am very, very worried about what happened to these NRL players. You will see the images of the family hotel where they share the merchandise between the balconies, so I am very worried,” Yang said.
She also boldly claimed that if any violations occur again, she will withdraw from the entire game.
