Buyers flocked to Toyota’s large off-road vehicle when planning to explore the country, and it is now equipped with some important standard equipment.
Toyota has updated its Prado four-wheel drive and increased prices throughout the range. Due to the closure of international borders, Australians want to explore their backyards, so Prado sales have soared this year.
The focus of this year’s small update is to increase safety equipment and styling adjustments to keep the aging Prado fresh against new competitors.
Toyota Australia executive Sean Hanley said safety is of paramount importance to its customers and the company has responded accordingly.
“We are committed to ensuring that our customers benefit from the peace of mind provided by the latest advanced security features,” said Mr. Hanley.
He said: “These security updates and a series of visual enhancements ensure that it is the best time to explore Australia’s vast backyard in the Prado.”
The GX and GXL grades-the two cheapest versions-are equipped with blind spot monitoring and rear intersection alarms as standard. The latter will remind you of vehicles that are about to cross you when reversing.
The more expensive VX and Kakadu grades are equipped with new 19-inch alloy wheels.
The prices of all grades have risen by nearly $1,000. The base Prado GX is now priced at US$60,830 (excluding on-road costs), and the Kakadu level has been increased to US$87,807.
The Prado is still powered by the same 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with a power of 150 kilowatts and 500 Nm, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The braking towing capacity remains at 3000 kg.
Toyota claims that the Prado drink is 7.9 liters/100 kilometers.
