Labour MP Jason Claire said people living in Sydney were “paying the price” for the Prime Minister’s decision to postpone the lockdown of the city.
Mr. Claire told Sky News: “Sydney has been blocked for too long and it has taken too long to promote vaccines across the country. This is why this is happening now. We are paying for these delays.”
He said that even “the prime minister in quiet moments” would agree that she had imposed a blockade for too long.
“The lesson in other states is that you have to lock in quickly. However, it’s no use complaining now.
“In the past few days, the governor has sent out some very strong messages about the importance of staying at home, and I think we are seeing this on the streets of Western Sydney now,” Mr. Claire said.
