Sydney’s list of exposed locations for the new crown virus has surged again, thousands of people have been quarantined, and authorities are considering extending the lockdown period.
Sydneysiders spent their first night under stricter restrictions as the New South Wales health authorities are desperately slowing the city’s coronavirus outbreak.
The Chief Medical Officer of New South Wales, Dr. Kerry Chant, confirmed on Friday that there are now 14,000 close contacts across the state and they will all be quarantined for two weeks.
Worryingly, Dr. Shante said that compared with the 7,000 close contacts listed on Thursday, this number has doubled.
The state recorded 44 cases on Friday, prompting Governor Gladys Berejiklian to impose stricter restrictions on shopping, exercise and leaving home.
The New South Wales Department of Health released a late-night update of its list of places of interest on Friday night, adding a Strathfield bakery, a Merrylands trade store and a Bankstown lighting store to its close contact list.
