Prime Minister Scott Morrison will confront state governors over demands to reduce the number of international tourists entering the country.
Queensland Governor Annastacia Palaszczuk, Victoria Governor Daniel Andrews and Western Australia Governor Mark McGowan all insisted that since most parts of the country are experiencing the Covid-19 lockdown, the number of returning passengers needs to be reduced.
According to reports, Mr Morrison will also work hard to secure an agreement between the governor and the chief minister on the vaccination threshold to lift the lockdown and provide domestic and international travel exemptions for vaccinated Australians.
Mr Morrison told The Australian that Friday’s meeting will allow leaders to discuss the next steps for state and territory leaders to deal with future outbreaks.
