Austrian postal service company Oesterreichische Post AG will adopt more digital technology protocols for its non-fungible token (NFT) stamps.
In a recent announcement, the Austrian Post Reveal Plans are to integrate the Near Field Communication (NFC) chip into Crypto Stamp 3.0-this is the third iteration of its limited-edition NFT stamp collection series.
These embedded NFC chips will allow stamp owners to verify the authenticity of physical stamps based on metadata tied to the digital twin stored on the blockchain.

The post office detailed the NFC-NFT interaction of Crypto Stamp 3.0, saying:
“Austrian stamps also use NFC technology for the first time: Crypto Stamp 3.0 is based on authenticity checks supported by NFC and is encrypted. […] By reading the NFC chip, authenticity and digital twin can be displayed at the same time. “
According to the Austrian Post, the use of NFC technology eliminates the need to create additional scanning applications to verify ownership of NFT stamps.
For Stefan Nemeth, head of product management and e-commerce department of Austrian Postal Service, the adoption of NFC technology is an important step in adding even more intuitive features to future NFT stamp iterations.
The market value of Crypto Stamp 3.0 is 9.90 Euros (US$12), with a total circulation of 100,000 stamps. According to reports, the registration of pre-purchased NFT stamps will begin in June.
Since the initial issuance of NFT postage tokens, postal services from other jurisdictions have also participated. As early as March, the cryptocurrency startup Coinsilium established a partnership with the Gibraltar Philatelic Office and issued NFT stamps.
