A record number of more than 5,000 alumni and friends attended the MIT Technology Gathering held online from June 4th to 6th this year. A special event was held for the class reunion, and the entire MIT community was invited to watch Pops’ online technology night, learn from faculty and staff on the technology day, and conduct a virtual campus tour.
Home symphony hall
Since the 123rd annual Tech Night at Pops is held in a virtual way, there is no limit to the number of alumni and guests who can participate, and everyone gets a front row seat. The Boston Pop Orchestra performed a show tailored for the occasion in the empty symphony hall directed by Keith Lockhart, including the college’s favorite “Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Arise “All Ye of MIT” and the 50th reunion pay tribute to the 1971 class of tunes from Three Dog Night and Carole King. The evening also included classical music, such as the first movement of Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto-by MIT Ph.D. student and MIT Emerson Project Music Student William Wang in his concert with professional orchestra Performed in the first performance. According to tradition, the broadcast ends with the “Stars and Stripes Forever” and the (virtual) balloon falling. Throughout the performance, alumni and guests lit up the chat with greetings and memories from all over the world:
