This sausage and pepper bread is basically a stuffed roll pizza. It is so delicious, you will want to make it again and again! I collaborated with DeLallo to make this sausage stuffed bread recipe, which is perfect for feeding people.I always keep Pizza Dough Pack by DeLallo Stored in my pantry so I can make pizza anytime without having to go out and buy dough.

How to make pizza dough with DeLallo Pizza Dough Kit

  • Combine the flour mixture and yeast packet that came with the kit with 1 ¼ cup of warm water in a large bowl. Stir with a fork until the dough begins to form.
  • Knead by hand for three minutes or until the dough is soft and smooth.
  • Place in a greased bowl and cover for 45 minutes until the dough rises.

How to reheat if advance

You can make this Italian bread first, then cook it in 10 or 15 minutes, and then reheat it when you are ready to serve. Just cover it with foil and put it in the oven until heated.

Variety:

  • Replace the Italian chicken sausage with turkey sausage or even turkey powder seasoned with Italian herbs. You can also fill the bread with turkey pepperoni.
  • Make it dairy-free by omitting cheese.

This simple sausage, pepper and onion Stromboli (stuffed sausage bread) is stuffed with Italian chicken sausage, peppers, onions, spicy tomato fresco and mozzarella cheese.

  • 16 ounce Pizza dough, A little over half from 1 Delallo pizza dough kit
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/2 Medium-sized onions
  • 1/2 Red bell pepper, Cut into 1/4 inch thick
  • 1/3 Cup Delaro Spicy Arrabiatta Fresh Tomatoes
  • 2 Italian Chicken Sausage Link, Remove a total of 5 1/2 ounces from the shell
  • 3/4 Cup Partially skimmed shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 protein, Assault

  • Prepare the pizza dough according to the instructions on the package.

  • This will take about 1 hour of rest. When ready, set aside 16 ounces and refrigerate the other half for later use.

  • In a medium pot, cook the sausages over medium heat for 3 minutes, then set aside. Reduce the heat, add olive oil and onions, and stir for 5 minutes.   • Preheat the oven to 500F and place the grill in the center of the oven. Spray the nonstick pan with oil.

  • Use a rolling pin to roll the dough into a 16 x 10 inch rectangle on the floured surface.

  • Place the onion and pepper about 1 1/2 inches from the edge. Put the sausage on the pepper and onion. Put cheese on top. Use egg wash and brunch along the edges of the dough.

  • Fold one side of the dough to cover the filling, then the short side, then the other side, stretch it slightly to seal, and pinch the end to avoid oozing.

  • Place the bread seam down on the prepared pan. Cut small slats on top and brush with egg white. If using, put sesame seeds on top.

  • Bake at 500F for 10 minutes, then reduce the heat to 375F, and cook for another 18 to 20 minutes, until the top is golden brown and cooked in the middle.

  • Remove from the oven, cool down and cut into 8 pieces.
