How to make the healthiest meatloaf recipe

beans

Beans add fiber and protein to the meatloaf. I use about one can of beans for every 1 pound of meatloaf. My favorite beans are black, but anything is fine.

cereals

Rice, bulgur, quinoa, or other grains are good ways to make larger patties without adding more meat. It can also increase fiber, protein and other nutrients.

Most of the time, I will replace the breadcrumbs with whatever grains I am using. However, keep in mind that grains will take away moisture and cause the patties to dry out. You can also use oatmeal instead of crumbs.

According to the recipe, I would not add more than ½ – 1 cup of cereal. My favorite grain (not grain) to add is quinoa. It can blend perfectly with any minced meat and add a lot of fiber and protein.

vegetable

In the meatloaf, you can add spinach, kale, peppers, onions, carrots, celery, and almost any vegetable in the sun.

Spinach, kale, and other green leafy vegetables can be roughly chopped and added to lettuce.

I like to sauté peppers, onions, celery and other “spicier” vegetables in olive oil before mixing them into the meatloaf recipe. I find that if you don’t fry in a pan first, the hearty vegetables won’t have enough time to fully cook. If you like crunchy vegetables, then, anyway, mix them into raw meatloaf.

I actually grated the carrots and then added the raw meatloaf mixture. They cook perfectly in this way.

Try a bunch of different vegetables and see which one you like best.

all of the above

Don’t feel constrained when preparing healthy meatloaf recipes. You can add as many meatloaf mixtures as needed.

As I said, as long as the mixture has enough moisture and you can shape a loaf, you are fine.
