One of my favorite ways to make grilled steak in summer. Drizzle with fresh chopped tomatoes, red onion, balsam and oil. This is fresh and a great way to enjoy late summer tomatoes!

This summer grilled steak recipe is fresh and delicious, and is a great way to enjoy summer tomatoes. The tomatoes and red onions are seasoned with salt, pepper, balsamic vinegar, and olive oil, and topped with any combination of fresh herbs you have on hand, such as basil and oregano.

How long do you grill the steak on the grill?

Turn the grill to high heat and fry the steak for about 7 minutes on each side to get a medium rare steak. The internal temperature should be 135 degrees. For a medium steak with a warm pink center, cook it to 145 degrees. After removing the steak from the grill, let it sit for about five minutes before slicing.

What to serve with grilled steak

This grilled flank steak will be delicious Roasted Lemon Parsley Potatoes with asparagus. Some other side dish options are this Grilled corn salad with feta, Grilled Vegetable Orzo Pasta Salad, with Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes. You can also use steak and tomatoes as a salad of mixed vegetables or arugula.

Variety:

  • Replace balsamic vinegar with red wine vinegar.
  • Replace the red onions with shallots.
  • Add avocado to the tomato ingredients.
  • If you can’t find flank steak or London roast, use flat iron steak.
  • Place the tomato mixture on the chicken or salmon.
  • If you don’t have an outdoor grill, you can use your broiler or buy an indoor grill (This is what i use).

  • 2 lb Flank or London grilled steak
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt and fresh black pepper, To taste
  • Garlic powder
  • 1 Spoon Extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 Spoon Balsamic vinegar
  • 1/3 cup Shallots, Chopped
  • 3 to 4 Moderate tomato, Chopped (about 3 1/2 cups)
  • 1 Spoon Fresh herbs, such as oregano, Basil or parsley
  • Pierce the steak with a fork. Season well with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and let stand at room temperature for about 10 minutes.

  • In a large bowl, combine onion, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper. Let the onions sit in the mixture for a few minutes to soften them. Mix with tomatoes and fresh herbs, and adjust seasonings as needed.

  • Heat the grill or broiler on high heat. The steak is cooked for about 7 minutes on each side to achieve a medium or longer taste. Remove from the grill and place on a plate for about 5 minutes before slicing.

  • Cut the steak into thin slices on the diagonal; put tomatoes on top and serve.
