How to make chocolate peanut butter cookies
If you like any combination of brownie, peanut butter or chocolate, these chocolate peanut butter cookies will surely become your new friends (and this Healthy Peanut Butter Skillet Cookies).
These ingredients
- peanut butter. I added moisture to this classic chocolate chip cookie recipe, increased richness, and a YUM factor of 10/10.
- Bittersweet chocolateTo get the best quality fudge texture, I use melted dark chocolate instead of cocoa powder.
- Espresso powder. Add a pinch of espresso powder to enhance the intensity of the chocolate flavor.
- flour. These cookies use my signature blend of whole wheat flour and white whole wheat flour (like these Healthy Pumpkin Cookies).I like any attempt to make biscuits healthy to verify eating more than
50, Which is 5.
- Egg. Soft, soft and moisturizing.
- sugar. Sweeten biscuits and increase their fudge flavor.
- Powdered sugar. Stick to every nook and cranny of these cracked chocolate peanut butter cookies to make them taste like biscuit-shaped peanut butter cups (try these Chocolate Peanut Butter Energy Ball For the ball).

direction
- Melt the chocolate, butter, and peanut butter together.
- Whisk together the sugar, eggs, vanilla extract and espresso powder.
- Add the chocolate mixture, baking powder and salt.
- Stir in the flour, cover the dough, and cool until hardened.
tip!
This dough is very soft after mixing. For best results, refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight. This critical step makes the dough easier to shape and ensures that your biscuits will not fall apart too much during baking.
- Scoop up the dough and shape it into a ball.

- Roll each ball into powdered sugar to coat with a layer.
tip!
Only roll 4-6 dough balls in powdered sugar at a time. Otherwise, the balls tend to stick together.
- Bake on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper until the top is dry and set.
tip!
All ovens have hot and cold spots, which can cause uneven baking of biscuits. Here are some tips on baking even cookies every time.
- Rotate the cookie sheet 180 degrees during the baking process.
- If you bake more than one plate of biscuits at a time, swap the top and bottom biscuits during the baking process.
- Take it out, cool it slightly, and transfer to a metal rack. Please enjoy!
Storage tips
- StoreThe remaining biscuits can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 3 days.
- freeze. Store biscuits in the refrigerator in a covered container for up to 1 month. Defrost (or not defrost-I won’t judge) before serving.

Frequently asked questions
Some peanut butter cookies can be made with natural peanut butter. However, this chocolate peanut butter cookie recipe is best made with processed peanut butter. Stabilizing ingredients (such as palm oil) help the dough shape and prevent the biscuits from separating during baking.
I have not tried to make this recipe with anything other than classic peanut butter, so if you try this exchange, it will be an experiment. If you try, I would love to hear your results. Please note that almond butter does drip/runny more easily, so I am less willing to recommend this exchange in baked goods.
- 8 ounce Chopped bittersweet chocolate Or chocolate chips, about 1 1/3 cup
- 1/4 Cup Unsalted butter (2 ounces or 1/2 stick)
- 1/4 Cup Creamy Peanut Butter (Do not use natural biscuits that must be refrigerated, otherwise the biscuits will not bake properly)
- 2/3 Cup granulated sugar
- 3 Big egg
- 2 teaspoon Pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 teaspoon Instant espresso powder Optional, but delicious. (Enhance the flavor of chocolate.)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt
- 1 Cup All-purpose flour
- 2/3 Cup White whole wheat flour Or extra all-purpose flour
- 1-2 Cup Powdered sugar For painting
-
Put the chocolate, butter, and peanut butter in a small saucepan and melt in a medium heat or microwave-safe bowl. (If it is a microwave oven, heat within 15 seconds and stir between each time.) Once the butter has melted, remove the bowl from the heat and stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and espresso powder.
-
Pour in the chocolate mixture, baking powder and salt, then stir to combine. Stir in the flour until it disappears. The dough looks very, very soft.
-
Cover the bowl and let the dough cool for at least 3 hours or overnight (it will harden a lot).
-
When you are ready to bake, preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Put 1 cup of powdered sugar in a wide, shallow bowl.
-
Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, scoop out a teaspoon of dough and roll it into a 1 1/4 inch diameter ball.
-
Put 4-6 balls of dough in the powdered sugar, then gently roll and toss the balls to completely cover them (if you make too many balls at a time, they will stick together). Shake off the excess sugar and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving 1 1/2 inches between each (the cookies will fall apart as they bake). Repeat with the remaining cookies.
-
Bake for 10 minutes. Rotate the bakeware by 180 degrees and half the bakeware. If you bake multiple biscuits at a time, switch the top and bottom bakeware positions. When the top is dry and just set, remove the biscuits from the oven. Let cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Store: The remaining chocolate peanut butter cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 3 days.
- freeze: Put the biscuits in a covered container and store them in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. Defrost (or not defrost-I won’t judge) before serving.
