According to a consumer survey in the United States, 25% of respondents who currently do not have cryptocurrencies plan to start investing in cryptocurrencies. “2021 is a good year for cryptocurrencies. More than half of respondents who own cryptocurrencies said they only started investing in the space in the last year.”

Cryptocurrency exchange Huobi released a report on Thursday titled “2022 Cryptocurrency Awareness Report.” The report includes “an in-depth survey to understand how ordinary people view cryptocurrencies, their perceptions of emerging trends, and whether they plan to invest in the space in the future,” the firm detailed.
A total of 3,144 US adults age 18 and older participated in the survey, 47% of whom were men.
“The crypto industry has seen mainstream growth in 2021, but it remains a niche topic for most people,” the report describes and details:
2021 is a good year for cryptocurrencies. Of the respondents who own cryptocurrency, more than half said they only started investing in the space in the last year.
According to the results, “47% of respondents said they do not own cryptocurrency and do not intend to,” and “approximately 28% said they currently own cryptocurrency.” The report added:
25% said that while they do not currently own cryptocurrencies, they plan to do so in the future, indicating they are still curious about the emerging field.
When asked how they felt about the future of the crypto industry, 42% said they were conflicted and knew little about it, while 23% said they had no confidence and thought “it’s all a scam /Bubble, about to burst.” Meanwhile, 19% think the crypto industry will change the definition of money, and 16% think it will grow, but not by a huge amount.
As for the reasons for investing in cryptocurrencies, 40% chose “long-term investment potential” as the answer, 27% chose “general interest” and 18% chose “short-term investment potential”.
Meanwhile, the areas that crypto investors see as the most promising are non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and decentralized finance (defi) – both areas chosen by 37% of respondents. The third most promising area is Metaverse, chosen by 36% of respondents.
