Indians visited crypto scam sites nearly 10 million times last year, according to blockchain data analytics firm Chainalysis. Indian users visited top crypto scam sites 4.6 million times.
Millions of Indians visit crypto scam sites
According to data from blockchain analysis firm Chainalysis, Indians have visited scam cryptocurrency websites in droves over the past few years.
The company found that Indians visited 9.6 million cryptocurrency scam sites last year. In 2020, that number is much higher. Indian users visited crypto scam sites 17.8 million times.
According to Chainalysis, the top cryptocurrency scam sites visited by Indians in the past year are coinpayu.com, adbtc.top, hackertyper.net, dualmine.com and coinain.app. Last year, the top five crypto scam sites alone received 4.6 million visits from India.
Indian authorities have been dealing with several cases of cryptocurrency scams. Earlier this month, the country’s Directorate of Enforcement (ED) confiscated assets An alleged cryptocurrency scam involving Morris Coin, worth approximately $5 million.
Cryptocurrency scams are one of the top priorities for regulators around the world.The North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) recently release Its “Annual Top Investor Threats List” puts cryptocurrency scams at the top of the list.In addition, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently warn Consumers about scams involving cryptocurrency ATMs.
