Payment giant Visa conducted a survey of small businesses and found that nearly a quarter of respondents plan to accept cryptocurrency payments this year. “I think more and more people have more confidence in cryptocurrencies,” said a Visa executive.
Small businesses in 9 countries plan to accept cryptocurrencies this year
Visa released a study on digital payments on Wednesday.It was conducted by Wakefield Research in December 2021 and includes a survey of 2,250 small business owners with 100 or fewer employees in Brazil, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Russia, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the United States
Visa said the path forward for small and micro businesses (SMBs) in 2022 includes a “long-term engagement with digital payments — even cryptocurrencies.” The payment giant details:
Of those surveyed, 24% said they plan to accept digital currencies, such as the cryptocurrency bitcoin.
The company elaborates: “82% of SMEs surveyed said they plan to embrace some form of digital choice in 2022, and 73% see accepting new payment methods as fundamental to their business growth.”
To quote Visa’s global head of merchant sales and acquiring, Jeni Mundy:
I think more and more people are more confident in cryptocurrencies.
In December, Visa launched Encryption Consulting Services. Additionally, Visa’s crypto chief recently revealed that the company has cooperating With 60 cryptocurrency platforms, consumers can spend digital currency at 80 million merchants around the world.
