Hackers compromised some popular encrypted YouTuber accounts at some point in the afternoon of January 23. The accounts posted unauthorized videos containing text instructing viewers to send money to hacked wallets.
Accounts that appear to be targeted include: “BitBoy Crypto,” “Altcoin Buzz,” “Box Mining,” “Floyd Mayweather,” “Ivan on Tech,” and “The Moon,” among others.

a Reddit postal User “9Oh8m8” said the hackers appeared to be able to use SIM swap scam, which will allow them to bypass two-factor authentication (2FA). They added:
“They all posted something like “ONE WORLD CRYPTOCURRENCY”. They have an address in the video and description to send your USDT/USDC/BNB/ETH to receive a new cryptocurrency called OWCY.”
However, despite not believing that the hack was the result of a SIM swap, he told Cointelegraph that there was no login on his personal Google account. “If it was a SIM swap, I wouldn’t be able to access my phone etc, and that didn’t happen,” he said.
“We noticed there was a login from the Philippines on the BRAND account (no login. YouTube brand account is linked to a personal account). This is most likely a hack or rogue employee on the YouTube side. That’s how they attract so much at the same time Human reasons.”
Founder and CEO of Altcoin Buzz YouTube channel Shash Gupta added that they noticed a problem around 1am Singapore time on Sunday night, when their channel posted an unauthorized video.
“It is unclear what happened. I am talking to Youtube to understand this and avoid further violations of this type.”

Another Crypto YouTuber Richard Heart tweet His channel was banned during the live broadcast at 9:30pm UTC, suggesting that YouTube may be aware of the incident.

Cointelegraph reached out to YouTube and some other creators of encrypted content affected by the hack, but has not received any additional information at the time of writing.
