What does Bezos’ big day mean for commercial aerospace

[ad_1]

This week, Jeff Bezos flew into space. Or, at least technically high enough to be counted. Although his 10-minute drive on the Blue Origin rocket was mainly to draw attention to his space travel company, the former Amazon CEO also has greater ambitions. He wants to open a new era of space colonization, and the ultimate goal is to create a new home for mankind in the universe.

Of course, being the world’s richest man and the former head of one of the world’s largest retail companies means that he has directly caused some of the biggest problems in society. But Bezos seems to believe that in order to save the planet, we must leave it.

On Gadget Lab this week, WIRED special editor Steven Levy discusses Jeff Bezos’s important day and its significance for the future of mankind.
