Next time we have friends over for dinner, this is the appetizer I will prepare-oven-baked cheese “fries”! This new recipe is also great as a side dish for any family dinner…talk about what you got in exchange for your equally boring baked potatoes.

I haven’t eaten cheese fries for a long time, so that I forget how delicious they are. Now we can enjoy them without the heavy feeling of deep-fried in a typical restaurant version. There is no reason not to indulge in delicious oven-baked potatoes, organic cheese and bacon, and homemade ranch sauce…well!

Oven baked cheese “fries”

Use these oven-baked cheese “fries” to change your basic baked potatoes! You can enjoy these to your heart’s content without worrying about the heavy frying of the restaurant version.

Oven baked cheese "French fries" Real food in 100 days


raw material

For “fries”

  • olive oil
  • 3 Medium potatoes, (Russet roasted potatoes or similar), 2 pounds total
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cup Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 Pieces Cooked bacon, collapsed

For ranch dressing

  • 1/4 cup cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 teaspoon Fresh parsley, Chopped
  • 2 teaspoon Fresh chives, Chopped (+ additional decoration if needed)
  • 1 teaspoon Freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 small Garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt and pepper, To taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven broiler to a high temperature. Line the pan with foil for easy cleaning (optional) and spray or drizzle with a little olive oil.

  2. Cut the potatoes into wedges and place them evenly on the baking sheet. Spray or drizzle a little more olive oil, then sprinkle salt on top.

  3. Place in the oven about 8 to 10 inches below the heating element and cook for about 10 minutes until the potatoes begin to brown. Turn over and cook for another 8 or 10 minutes, until brown and tender when pierced with a fork.

  4. At the same time, stir all the ranch seasoning together and set aside.

  5. After the potatoes are roasted, spread the cheese evenly on top, and then put them back in the oven for 30-60 seconds, just in time for the cheese to melt. Remove from the oven, sprinkle crumbled bacon on top, drizzle with ranch dressing, garnish with extra chives (if needed), and serve.
