What is the secret of making good scones?
There are some techniques for making the perfect scones.
- The first is to keep the dough as cold as possible. I use frozen butter and cold buttermilk to make sure the dough is not too hot.
- Also, when mixing the dough, make sure not to overuse the dough.
- Finally, when you put the scones on the baking sheet, don’t press them down.
How to make strawberry scones from scratch
First, mix the strawberries with a tablespoon of sugar. Next, mix the flour, remaining sugar, salt and baking powder, and then grind the frozen butter into dry ingredients.
Mix the buttermilk and vanilla and slowly stir into the flour. Fold the strawberries and place 8 tablespoons of dough on the baking sheet. Then sprinkle with sugar and bake at 400 degrees for 18 minutes.
How to prepare meals
These scones freeze well and are perfect for a quick breakfast. Freeze leftovers in a zippered bag or reusable container, then thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
