Watch the first trailer of the “King” documentary series detailing the boxing legend of the 1980s

In the 1980s, Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Roberto Duran and Thomas Hearns The “Four Kings” tied boxing to their backs and ushered in one of the most exciting times in the history of the sport. The four legendary geniuses will meet nine times in the championship battle of that era, and at the same time breathe life into the sport that was in trouble at the time.

On June 6, the four-part documentary series “The Kings” (The Kings) will cover four stars and will premiere on Showtime. That night, Showtime pay-per-view TV will show an exhibition conflict between boxing star Floyd Mayweather and social media influencer Logan Paul. The remaining three episodes will be released weekly and will be available on demand on all Showtime streaming platforms.

The battle between the “four kings” is legendary, but the story of Leonard, Hagler, Duran and Hearns is more than just punching a fist. After Muhammad Ali retired during the turbulent decade of the 1980s, these people struggled with racism, struggling American society, and a movement that desperately needed stars.

Sadly, Hagler died at the beginning of this year and died in March at the age of 66. Duran, Leonard and Hearns are now 60 years old, and all four men are inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
