Sri Lanka beat the West Indies with a dramatic three-goal victory in the last eight qualifying rounds, while South Africa beat Ireland by 153 points to reach the quarter-finals of the ICC U-19 World Cup.
Sri Lanka limited the hosts to 250 wickets before Dunith Wellalage’s unbeaten 28 of Sadisha Rajapaksa (76) Anjala Bandara (40) and Ranuda Somarathna guided the Group D champions to three wickets on Friday.

In another match, South Africa beat Ireland at Taruba, with captain George van Herden playing a century. Van Heerden hit 111 of 93 balls while Dewald Brevis, known as “Baby AB”, scored 96 to take South Africa’s 315 to seven of their rain-reducing 47 before beating Ireland with 158.
With India all but certain of their place in the Premier League quarter-finals, South Africa needs to win to secure their place.
