The UAE and Ireland won their respective matches on Tuesday to book places in the semi-finals of the U-19 World Cup board.
UAE survived a dramatic batting collapse to narrowly beat Uganda by one wicket, while Ireland beat Canada by 94. Philippus le Roux, an Irish hero, shot an unbeaten 83 to help his team hit a 179. Canada was eliminated with an 85 in 30 rounds.
UAE’s Shetty Star narrowly wins
Adhitya Shetty shines with the ball, keeping her nerve with the bat in the UAE’s game against Uganda. Shetty helped dismantle Uganda with 123 points and later saw his team go home with a bat in the Port of Spain game in Trinidad.
Shetty took four wickets, including one for opposition captain Pascal Murungi.

UAE responded with a strong start, with Kay Smith hitting five boundaries with a smooth 25. The team were almost halfway to goal in the 15th game, conceding just one wicket. But then the pendulum turned to Uganda as four wickets fell in the space of 14 deliveries.
Matthew Musuzu and Joseph Baguma were the lead destroyers, finishing with three wickets each.
Allegations of Le Roux leading the Irish
Leroux was a major contributor to Ireland’s convincing victory at Taruba.

Canada got off to a good start, cutting Ireland’s 3-pointer to 34. Le Roux arrived and began rebuilding work, but soon lost the company of his captain, Tim Tector (15), as pressure from Canada continued.
Ireland slumped on 7-for-90 when Gibson (3-for-36) returned to clean bowl Matthew Humphreys for the Ducks, but Leroux continued to gain ground. He added 48 with Jamie Forbes (25) and hit a total of 12 boundaries while taking Ireland to 179.
In response, Canada was soon at a disadvantage, dropping to 12 from 3-point range as Reuben Wilson removed two openers. Kairav Sharma (19) and Gurnek Johal Singh (15) were the only batsmen to reach double figures as wickets continued to drop regularly.

The UAE will face West Indies or Papua New Guinea in the next round, while Ireland await the winner of the match between Zimbabwe and Scotland.
