The 27-year-old is part of a team of 20 Sri Lankan who will travel to Australia for a five-match T20 international series between February 11 and 20.

Team coach Dilshan Fonseca also tested positive for the virus.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said in a statement: “Both were found to be positive during routine PCR tests conducted by the squad and support staff and they are currently staying in the biosafety bubble before the team departs for Australia. .” .

“Both of them are currently undergoing COVID-19 protocols and will rejoin the team on February 10 when the protocols are completed.”

The Sri Lankan team will depart for Australia on February 3.

After that, the Islanders will begin their five-day campaign in India on February 25, with a two-match Test and a three-match T20I series.
