After the COVID-19 outbreak in the England team’s camp has reached seven confirmed cases, England cricket coach Chris Silverwood will be absent from Australia’s fourth Ash Test.
Silverwood needs to be quarantined after a family member of the tour group has tested positive for coronavirus. There is no indication that Silverwood was infected with the virus. He will have to quarantine with his family for 10 days in Melbourne where the third test is conducted. The fourth exam will start in Sydney on January 5.
England lost the third test, and the series, as Australia took a 3-0 impeccable lead in the ashes of five games.

England said it tested positive for what it called “a family member” on Wednesday. Another round of PCR testing will be conducted on Thursday.
Since the PCR testing system was implemented on Monday, the tour group in England has recorded 7 positive cases-three support staff and four family members. The players will fly to Sydney on Friday before the fourth test.
Despite the increasing number of cases in Sydney and an outbreak in camps in England, the Australian cricket team believes that the Sydney test can proceed as planned. Both teams will fly to Sydney on a chartered flight on Friday morning and book the entire hotel complex for them in the eastern suburbs of the city to minimize the risk of contracting the virus.
The fifth test is scheduled to be held in Adelaide in mid-January.
