The young all-rounder Qasim Akram will lead Pakistan in the ICC Under-19 World Cup in the West Indies early next year.
“We have identified and selected players who not only have the potential to deliver results in these two games, but also have a bright future,” said Junior Chief Selector Salim Jaffer.
Pakistan has failed to win the ICC U-19 World Cup since winning consecutive championships in 2003 and 2005/06, while Bangladesh won the last game in South Africa in early 2020.
Jaffer said that the Junior Selection Committee has invited 21 high-performance cricket players born on or after September 1, 2002 to participate in the current training camp in Lahore.

In addition to the last 15 places in the two games, the team also includes two traveling reserve teams, who will participate in the two-game tour.
The team includes four players who have participated in the U19 World Cup in South Africa from January to February 2020. Pakistan won third place in the event.
Qasim, Abdul Wahid Bangarzai and Mohamed Sheikhzad in the opener, and mid-level hitter Irfan Khan Niazi are the four players participating in the South African tournament.
Pakistan Shahins and U-19 head coach Ijaz Ahmed will lead the support team to participate in the World Cup and the Asian Cup.
