The Australian cricket team stated that match referee David Boon tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be able to participate in the fourth ashes test in Sydney from January 5.

CA added that Boon, who is asymptomatic and fully vaccinated, will be replaced by Steve Bernard, a member of the New South Wales International Referee Committee.

Boon will stay in Melbourne, complete a 10-day quarantine there, and is expected to start the fifth test between Australia and the United Kingdom in Hobart on January 14.

With the increasing number of infections in Australia, Thursday’s Big Bash meeting between Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Stars was postponed after a member of the Stars support staff tested positive.
