As expected, Manny Pacquiao plans to run for president in his hometown of the Philippines in the 2022 election. According to Pacquiao, his fighting career is over, although his advisers said that Pacquiao’s boxing career has not yet been finalized.

Pacquiao has already had an accomplished political career, winning a seat in the Philippine House of Representatives in 2010 and winning positions in the following elections. In 2016, he won a seat in the Philippine Senate. Pacquiao spent most of his time as a senator in line with the regime of the controversial President Rodrigo Duterte until last summer there was a dispute between the two parties, including Duterte’s threat of 2022 Run for Pacquiao.

After announcing the presidential campaign he had speculated for years, Pacquiao seemed to have clearly ended his boxing career.

Pacquiao said: “I did this because I was boxing for a long time, and my family said it was enough.” In the interview on Sunday. “I just continue because I am passionate about this sport.”

Pacquiao lost to Youdenis Ugas in August, facing Ugas in a game originally scheduled to play against Errol Spencer Jr. After the match, Pacquiao seemed uncertain about his boxing future.

After the announcement, Sean Gibbons, the head of Pacquiao’s publicity company, said, Tell ESPN Pacquiao’s boxing future is still up in the air.

“In the next few weeks, the senator will decide how he will complete his professional boxing career,” Gibbons said. “After the battle, recently, he was discussing retirement [or] Maybe there is one more. He just talked aloud about different situations.

“He hasn’t retired until you see it officially appear on his Twitter or Instagram. Once you see it on such a platform, it is official. Anything else is just talking about his thoughts at the moment. It comes from him, but this is hearsay.”
