Australia captain Aaron Finch praised Justin Lange for his “incredible job” in the team’s recent success, but did not comment on whether he wanted Langer to remain head coach.
Langer’s contract extension will be up for discussion, with Cricket Australia likely to consult with Finch and Test captain Pat Cummins before making a final decision. Lange’s work style has been criticized by players in the past, but he has expressed a desire to stay on as head coach.
“He did a fantastic job. Winning the World Cup without anyone really giving us a chance and then dominating the Ashes 4-0 and getting there almost 5-0 was impressive,” Finch was quoted as saying sydney morning herald.

“I’m not going to comment on Cricket Australia’s process, but he’s done a fantastic job over the past few months, esp.”
Finch said the CA has a process to follow, but he’s still not sure what the outcome will be. “Whatever happens on the Australian side of cricket, it’s out of our control as players but his contract is up. There will be some conversation there, no doubt.
“I know Patty [Cummins] I might get in touch on this. But actually I don’t know — I’ve never had a leadership role when someone’s coaching contract expired. So, like I said, he did an incredible job. Seeing how good the environment was during the T20 World Cup and then throughout the ashes, it’s everyone’s credit,” Finch added.
Langer took charge of the team following the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa in 2018. His current contract expires in June.
